The Kosovo Manufacturing Club (KMC) welcomed the decision of the Ministry of Trade and Industry to impose protective measures on imports of construction materials from clay. Kosovo Manufacturing Club, after analyzing the construction market from clay and consulting with local producers, saw it necessary to include some other clay products on the initial list.
The Kosovo Manufacturing Club and the Association of Manufacturers of Construction Materials from Clay have filed a request to MTI that in this decision should also include some other building materials from clay on the list of protective measures on imports.
The decision with number 01 Ref. Nr. 10th of dt. 28.12.2017 issued by the Minister of MTI, Mr. Bajram Hasani represents a great support for local clay producers and at the same time forbids the sale of clay material from Serbia that is sold under the market price, and even under its own production price. This decision does not prohibit the arrival of such products from Serbia, but prevents a serious and general detriment to the position of local producers, the local economy and consequently endangers the free market competition.
This decision also has an important symbolism because it supports building Kosovo with construction materials produced in the country. The KMC thanks the Ministry of Trade and Industry for this important decision. At the same time, the KMC supports and encourages the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to continue in the future with such public policies that support local producers.
