The Manufacturing Club supports and welcomes today’s decision of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to approve the decision of the Ministry of Trade and Industry to impose a 10% tax on products imported from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Manufacturing Club supports such a decision given the continuing obstacles that these two countries have made to Kosovo’s products to penetrate into their markets. Also, these countries have consistently subsidized the products they export to our country, making their products sold below the production price. This practice, applied by Serbia and Bosnia, has greatly damaged Kosovo’s manufactures by making them uncompetitive.
This decision will protect the interests of domestic products and is a relief to local producers. The Club will continue to support MTI in the future for any decision that supports local producers and at the same time encourages it to continue with policies that strengthen the country’s economy and production.
