Kosovo Manufacturing Club together with the representatives of EYE (Enhancing Youth Employment) visited the companies ’Vita’, ‘Birra Peja’ and ‘Line Group’, to meet from close their work and challenges that these companies are facing.

During this visit, it was noted that one of the many problems faced by almost all manufacturing sector  in Kosovo is the lack of skilled workforce which constitutes a major challenge for producers and that directly affects the advancement of the manufacturing sector in the country.

Although the number of unemployed in Kosovo is quite large, the manufacturing sector has had a continuing problem of finding skilled workers for the business needs. This is due to the lack of investment in the professional development of young people and the creation of programs that will fit the labor market. The manufacturing sector has a profound lack of skilled workers especially in the field of food technology and mechatronics.

Kosovo Manufacturing Club has repeatedly expressed concerns about the problems that the manufacturing sector faces, and especially shortages that various companies have with regard to human resources. “Kosovo needs investment in education policies, both from the public and private sectors, in advancing programs that will prepare youth for the labor market. It is time to invest in the creation of training centers that are sustainable and have long-term effects, “said the executive director of the KMC during the visit.

Meanwhile, Tim Sparkman, director of the EYE program, said that within their activities they work to assist the manufacturing sector by increasing the productive and competent workforce, also by mobilizing resources and their partners to make these changes.
