The Kosovo Manufacturing Club welcomes the decision of ERO (Energy Regulatory Office) to postpone the decision on energy market liberalization, more precisely the creation of opportunities for consumers to enter the open market according to the principles set out in the Energy Law.
For some time now, the Manufacturing Club has been advocating for the postponement of this decision, given that in Kosovo the conditions for market liberalization have not yet been created and where energy supply is still provided by only one operator.
The current situation, where only one operator is functional and able to provide services, violates the principles of market economy with free competition, which is the basis of economic regulation of the Republic of Kosovo, and severely harms consumers and especially local manufacturers.
The Kosovo Manufacturing Club demands that the entire legal framework for energy be reviewed, and we hope not to find ourselves in such a situation again, but to work for a liberalized market that reflects increasing competition and efficiency in the market.
